From June 2 to 3, 2025, the President of the Economic, Social, Environmental and Cultural Council, Dr. Eugène Aka Aouélé, undertook an economic mission in the Lower Austria region. Accompanied by H.E. Cissé Yacouba, Ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire in Austria, this visit first took the CESec president to St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria, where he visited wind energy facilities and solar panels installed on an artificial lake. The visit then continued at the local parliament, where the President was received by the municipal council. Discussions focused on economic prospects between Côte d'Ivoire and Austria. A twinning between the Lower Austria region and the southern Comoé region was mentioned during this meeting. Finally, the mission concluded with a visit to the public hospital of St. Pölten and the MedAustron cancer treatment center in the city of Wiener Neustadt. This last visit was an opportunity for the president to discover the facilities, cutting-edge equipment, and carbon ion treatment technology used by Austria for cancer treatment. Indeed, MedAustron is one of the few centers in the world that uses this advanced radiotherapy technique, which involves using particle beams (protons, carbon ions) to treat cancers; this technology exists in only 5 countries in the world, namely Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, and China. The president expressed satisfaction with the visit and wished for collaboration between the Lower Austria region and public and private hospitals in Côte d'Ivoire, particularly in the area of student training and experience sharing.
